Following on from the previous post...
If you can understand and agree to that (from the previous post), you also have to accept the opposite when the roles are reversed. Realise your judgment of the person is most likely clouded or skewed by personal circumstances, lack of information and comprehensive awareness.
So that's the big secret ...that we already knew.
But,
You don't know something till you KNOW it.
And if you don't know what I mean, then you'll figure it out further down the line.
A bigger and better question is:
Okay if them's the rules, how the actual fudge do I not let people's bullcrap affect
my own definition and self worth?
Or
Where do I build or find my self worth, other than from others or my work and accomplishments?
Those questions resonating?
yeah,
Thought so.
But now you've done the hard work of reading the first post and learning the basic rules and logic; Or in this case seeing through the bullshit and learning about our own illogical minds. We can now use that awareness and keep reminding ourselves in different ways to ensure that we don't slip into the same standard thought patterns. There are many ways to do this and many techniques from hundreds of self proclaimed gurus. None are easy, none are quick. Human nature is not quickly or easily remolded, but it doesn't mean it is always right, and it certainly doesn't mean are natural thought patterns are healthy or make us happy. It is an everyday battle and life style choice, but just as a vegan or vegetarian finds other options for nutrients, we too can find more nourishing options to fuel are decisions, actions and thoughts. And just like being a Vegan or Veggie, it gets easier with time and practice.
but, it does take active searching, awareness, and a hunger for a deeper knowledge. There are many ways to open your mind up to these simple rules of human nature and our thought patterns. Here's a list of a few places to start:
Psychology in general, our patterns and the basics of what drive us to do certain things
Shame and Vulnerability Nothing has been more eye opening than learning about these two. They are the key to everything. Yes they are the scariest and toughest things to deal with, bigger than Love or even Fear. They are the real grand daddies at the center of it all. Check out Brene Brown's TED talk on the research of Shame and Vulnerability below it's a lil bit life changing. plus her books are quite interesting to, they delve into her research in more detail.

Creative Living - there is a definite correlation between happiness, self worth and creativity. Great book to read on the subject is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (same author as Eat Pray Love, read that too). Its about the magic that drives us and gives meaning to our lives and ourselves. Plus look at how delicious it looks, very refreshing.
Mindfulness Defined as a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Lots of books and research on it. Also check out Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and it's techniques. It helps to reassess our reactions and thought patterns when dealing with things. It makes us aware of the unhealthy patterns and helps us to break the cycles.
Soulpancake These guys make a host of creative and interesting content, ranging from the science of happiness to videos about people who deal with the fact they are terminally ill. life changing stuff, while fun, inspiring, moving and interesting.
Yoga or any Exercise with an understanding of the psychological and spiritual affects simple exercise can create and evoke within us.
Spiritualism and/or Religion, don't be afraid to ask question and find out what you believe it increases our connection to the world as well as other and gives us strength and meaning. Soul Pancake also touches upon this.
People taking time to enjoy the simple joys of good company and learning from those wiser or just different from ourselves. Closely linked to this is...
Gratitude The simple act of stopping for a second to realise how lucky you are. Then expressing it! It doesn't have to be a donation, or be volunteering your time. It can be as simple as a text saying "You always make me laugh, you bloody awesome cat faced beauty!" It instantly makes you happier, and becomes very addictive. Share your gratitude on everything and anything.
Role Models anyone you seem particularly drawn to, investigate them, see what they believe, what interests them and makes them strong. Especially with their ethics, morals and philosophy. It's always strengthening to turn to someone who not only inspires you but you know has struggled just like you. No ones life is easy, especially for those that achieve greatness.
There are many many more, simple things or complex reading of research and self help books. Plus eating well!, which I am admittedly awful at. But the internet has lots of places to look that info up.
Keeping looking for your own reasons and ways to become more aware of yourself, others, and the way we all interact together.
